School of Management:

• First Class in any of the following with Ph.D. in the relevant area: MBA, M.Tech, M.Sc., or LLM or equivalent

Planning & Architecture:

• First Class in B.Arch. and M.Arch. / M.Plan. or equivalent (Ph.D. required for Grade I and above)

Industrial Design:

• First Class in B.Tech / B.E. / B.Des. with Ph.D. in the relevant discipline

All degrees must be from a UGC / AICTE / AIU recognised institution. Detailed experience requirements vary by post level and are available in Schedule ‘E’ of NIT Statute.

NIT Rourkela follows the 7th Central Pay Commission pay structure for faculty positions.

• Assistant Professor Grade II: Pay Level 10 (₹57,700 – ₹1,82,400 as per academic pay matrix)
• Assistant Professor Grade I: Pay Level 12
• Associate Professor: Pay Level 13A2
• Professor: Pay Level 14A
